School's out for St. Joseph -- Newsday.com

School's out for St. Joseph -- Newsday.com:
"The only all-girls Catholic high school in Suffolk County, a hidden gem housed in majestic buildings on a lush 211-acre campus in Brentwood, is closing its doors.

The Academy of St. Joseph, whose history dates back 153 years, lacks the students and money to make running it financially feasible, Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood president Sister Jean Amore said yesterday. The school will shut down in June"

Oh god, I am so heartbroken over this. I loved my school so much. I can't believe what's happened to it over the last 15 years, and now this. I'm so upset. I just hope they find some way of preserving the buildings and grounds. God, I hope they don't tear it down and build condos or something. And what's going to happen to the sisters at Maria Regina, the nurshing home? I can't even imagine. I am devastated by this news.
